This is a small sampling of the work I've mostly designed and built, from finished furniture, to more utilitarian pieces done for myself and clients.

A bit about me…

My name is Randy Garbin. I build stuff. I fix things. I'd like to be your new handy-man.

After a long time staring at a computer, I decided I would rather make things that actually cast a shadow.

For as long as I can remember, I had a knack for fixing things and sometimes making them better. I had to fix them because growing up we didn't have the money to buy replacements. My mother had to pinch pennies so hard they cried for mercy.

Whenever Mom had to get something repaired, she often found herself at the mercy of unscrupulous contractors who took advantage of the fact that she was a woman who probably wouldn't know better. As a result, I grew up learning how to figure out things for myself.

After a career as a creative, I began to collect and acquire the necessary tools for a fully-equipped wood shop, where I honed my skills further. Living in an 80-year-old house allows for plenty of practice. Since that time, I’ve made furniture, hung 200-pound doors, built basement hatchway steps, and completed dozens and dozens of handyman tasks for my family and our friends.

I do basic woodworking, home maintenance and repair. I've also designed and built Mission-style end tables, sofa arm tables, Adirondack-style patio furniture, bookshelves, birdhouses, and I’ve assembled more than my fair share of Ikea furniture.

I don’t do house painting, climb on roofs, or anything that requires a permit.

If it’s something I can’t do, I’ll tell you.

(I built this website too!)

For as long as I can remember, I had a knack for fixing things and sometimes making them better. I had to fix them because we didn't have the money to buy replacements.  I grew up in a single-parent household where Mom had to pinched pennies so hard they cried for mercy.

Whenever Mom had to get something fixed, she often found herself at the mercy of unscrupulous contractors who took advantage of the fact that she was a woman who probably wouldn't know better. As a result, I grew up learning how to figure out things for myself.

In 2017, I began to collect and acquire the necessary tools for a fully-equipped work shop, where I honed my skills further. Living in an 80-year-old house allows for plenty of practice. Since that time, I’ve made many pieces of furniture, hung 200-pound doors, built basement hatchway steps, and completed dozens and dozens of handyman tasks for my family and our friends.

I've also designed and built Mission-style end tables, sofa arm tables, Adirondack-style patio furniture, bookshelves, birdhouses, and things I haven’t even thought of yet. I’ve also assembled more than my fair share of Ikea furniture, and I can figure out your home network.
